Welcome to Havant Conservation Action
In the borough of Havant there are still
many open spaces and areas of value for nature conservation that can be
visited by the general public. We have an award winning Country Park,
local nature reserves, working forests, Langstone Harbour which is
recognised as being of international importance for wildlife, woods and
other green lungs in the heart of our urban communities as well as
informal access by footpaths and bridleways into the wider countryside.
Across our borough’s local communities, volunteers are improving our
environment by caring for the wealth of open green spaces that the
citizens of Havant can enjoy or by raising public awareness of the
wildlife that we live alongside in local area. Local people are making a
difference to the quality of life in their community.
By volunteering for practical tasks like planting trees and bulbs,
removing rubbish and litter, improving paths or working to care for
neglected woods, ponds and meadows local people are making a real
difference to the quality of life for all residents of the borough.
Whether you have an interest in learning more about local wildlife, local
history or just want to make new friends and keep fit you can do it by
joining a local conservation group. There are groups based in Wecock Farm,
Cowplain, Waterlooville, Havant, Leigh Park, Langstone, Emsworth, Purbrook
and Hayling that would welcome new volunteers to help them care for the
local area.
The groups have joined together to form the Havant Conservation Action
Project to offer people in the borough the chance to learn more about
their natural heritage and environment and give them opportunities to take
part in fun events and practical projects.
Havant Conservation Action is supported by an Awards for All grant from
the National Lottery.
